I had a shoulder impingement and was having a serious problem with shoulder pain with any kind of presses. Overhead presses, bench press, pushups, burpees. I went to physical therapy and they got me to the point where I could sleep through the night but any kind of load would make it hurt again. Coach recommended I come check out Nate. it’s been about a month and a half and now I’m pretty much PRing my overhead work and I’m out of pain.
I have been working with well fit life twice weekly for six weeks. I’m almost 72 years old and I started training to remedy the loss of upper body strength and flexibility over the past few years. benefits of my training include a noticeable increase in flexibility along with more strength, endurance and better balance. Yard work certainly is easier now. An additional bonus has been golf like 10 extra yards on the driver and almost 10 with each iron. I highly recommend Well Fit Life. Training is fun, especially with an engaged trainer who switches up routines and makes new ones frequently. Everyone I know over 50 would benefit from this style of training. Wish I had found WFL sooner.
Working with Nate has been an absolute game changer for me, to put it matter of factly; I got my life back and I haven’t felt this WELL in awhile!
My journey began when a very dear friend (Kim) referred me to Nate for plantar fasciitis.
I also suffer from osteoarthritis and have had 2 recent total knee replacements, So with that said, I have not been exercising and have been in pain for a while and not able to enjoy the things that I love; like walking, biking, gardening, even going shopping was a struggle. After sitting at a desk and computer all day at work I had no energy and was in so much pain that I barely could do anything afterwards. Every joint in my body was aching, not just my feet. I basically felt overwhelmed and had already tried physical therapy and expensive orthotics.
Nate worked with me slowly, to get to the root cause of my pain. I needed to rebuild my entire body from the ‘core’. Basically, I had to start from scratch even though I had been athletic in prior years before the arthritis. My goal in the beginning was to decrease my pain. Within the first few weeks I noticed a difference by doing simple exercises that Nate would instruct me on. He would not only explain the exercises in detail, we would go thru each one and he would videotape me doing them, so that I could follow them at home on my own. The plantar fasciitis became a non-issue as I developed strength, flexibility and stamina by working on my core muscles and using them like they were meant to be used. With arthritis, you don’t think you can exercise because you are in pain; however not moving just causes more pain. Once the plantar fasciitis subsided, I was able to progress to the next level and goal of trying to stop the weight gain, and in turn gain more energy and walk farther distances.
It is important to note that I also had some unique problems from my last knee surgery. I was not able to completely bend my left knee due to scar tissue that developed, so I could not ride a bike because of the bend that is required; and I had difficulty walking, climbing steps and even getting up off the floor to a standing position; however as I did my ‘homework’ daily that Nate assigned to me I was able to gain more bend and strengthen my thighs and can now do all of these things without pain.
I started this journey in February and I am still working with Nate every other week. I am now able to get thru the day without pain, I can ride my bike, walk my dog, and climb stairs. Oh and I joined a gym which I thought would never happen again. I feel great and am starting to feel more tone and FIT! I have more energy and a huge bonus so far, I have lost 7% body fat. That might not seem huge to anyone, but knowing where I started, it is unbelievable to me!
Without a doubt, I could not have done this without Nate. His expertise and focus is truly amazing. He has so much passion for what he does.
I am truly thankful and grateful for Nate and his ability to help me be the best version of myself, and I am excited to see what else I can accomplish, with Nate’s help.

I cannot believe how much better I felt after literally one session. I was restricting light cardio (walking) due to knee pain. I felt good enough to take the dog out for a walk that night. I was also on my feet all day grocery shopping and other chores.

When I started visiting well fit life I was seeing Kelsey for her FST and massage therapy expertise. She is great and is always able to help me get my knots out of my back and neck. I starting meeting with Ian in order to fix my back pain. I had rounded shoulders and a tilted pelvis. Both of those issues are now resolved and he is helping me gain overall strength. Love going there. In passing I’ve met Nate who I haven’t worked with but enjoy having fitness based conversations with. Ask him about his fondness of Nelson twins cover bands!
I am pain free for the first time in 18 months and it only took 3 visits. I suffered from upper hamstring connector pain on both sides and was limited in my crossfit activities, couldn’t sit in a car or chair for more than 30 minutes without a lot of pain and was held back bicycling which is my first passion. After 3 sessions and doing the exercises he gave me I have no more pain and I’m starting to be able to do all the activities I was limited in. He identified weak spots I wasn’t aware of and is helping me slowly become stronger. I am a believer and would highly recommend him. It works!
Ian has been my personal trainer for a couple months now, and even within a short amount of time, I have experienced tremendous growth and positive changes with my body! I had an evaluation last week by Nate to exploit some weakness’s that I have in respect to mobility and just being able to move better. Nate took me through the Functional Movement Screen and after checking my shoulder and thoracic spine, he was able to get me from 15 inches reaching both hands behind my back to 10.5 inches after doing a series of mobility drills for about 5 minutes. My overhead position changed immediately and has already help me achieve a PR in my Snatch. I highly recommend Nate and his ability to get you to move better no matter what your fitness goals are! I now call him the “Yoda” of movement!
